As a Research Associate your responsibilities will include:

• Working in a team focusing on LimmaTech’s research projects
• Performing, analyzing and planning experiments under guidance of an experienced supervisor
• Engineering E. coli and employing iterative approaches to recombinantly produce novel vaccine candidates
• Applying methods such as molecular cloning, genomic engineering and other recombinant DNA techniques.
• Experimentally optimizing expression conditions for vaccine production in E. coli to ensure product candidates with desired yields and characteristics
• Analyzing recombinantly produced vaccine candidates (i.e., ELISA, SDS-PAGE, Western blot, SE-HPLC, colorimetric assays etc.)
• Purifying candidate products by using techniques such as chromatography and ultrafiltration
• Providing suggestions and solutions for scientific and technical challenges
• Communicating and aligning with your colleagues inside and outside of the Research team for optimal performance
• Documenting data and presenting results at internal research meetings

You are an efficient and enthusiastic team player with:

• A proactive, enthusiastic and curious personality – you can get things done!
• M.Sc. in Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Biotechnology Biochemistry, or related field from a recognized institution or an equivalent qualification
• Proven hands-on experience and profound knowledge in molecular microbiology, genetic engineering, bacteriology, and recombinant DNA techniques
• Solid knowledge in prokaryotic protein expression, protein purification, and analytical biochemistry
• Hands-on experience in bacterial metabolic engineering is a plus
• Good verbal and written communication skills in English
• For this advertised position candidates holding a PhD cannot be considered
